Desperate Housewives to continue on

The creator of the hit ABC show “Desperate Housewives“ announced today that he’d like to continue the show past it’s previously announced 2011 ending.   Originally Marc Cherry had planned to wrap up the show after season seven but after such a strong showing this year he feels the show can continue on through at least season nine.   Where is the show at right now?  It’s currently in season five, which means if ABC decides to go through nine seasons then the show would wrap up in 2013!!!  Will the sexy ladies, still be sexy ladies by then?

The interesting thing here is that the show hasn’t even been picked up for season six yet.  There is no doubt that will happen thou.   The ratings this year have been pretty outstanding this year considering the downward slump television has been in over the past years.   It’s actually pretty funny cause some doubted the show would continue on much longer, after the drop in ratings during season four.   Just like the show things change fast on Wisteria Lane.

The show just wrapped up filming its 100th episode, which is a milestone that every show tries to achieve.  It shows that the fans enjoy what you’re putting on the air and shows that the show has staying power.  The real question thou is will it be able to last another five years?  Will there be enough stories to tell?  I guess Cherry thinks there is, but only time will tell.

I’ve only watched the show on a handful occasions but for the guys who do, I’m sure they’ll love the thought of watching this group of beauties continue on.   Let’s hope they age gracefully as Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross and Nicollette Sheridan will all be approaching 50 as the show ends.   Eva Longoria Parker will still be under the age of 40 thou.
